Two big updates as Hawaii has shared some dates on two big topics. May 11th a pilot program will start for vaccine exemption for inter-island travel. May 4th, Maui will start to require a second test upon arrival at Kahului Airport.
All the details that are important for mainland travelers have not been revealed yet. What we know is people can be exempt from the pre-testing program for inter-island travel if they have been fully vaccinated and vaccinated in Hawaii. This pilot program is for residents and is meant to work out the bottlenecks and delays before they start to allow a vaccine exemption for trans-Pacific travel.
The type of test for post-arrival has not been announced for Maui. Nor has other details. We will provide an update next week on Maui testing.
