Chad Owens is a local boy from O’ahu and former professional Canadian football wide receiver. He attended Roosevelt High School before graduating from the University of Hawai’i. Owens played for the University of Hawaii’s Rainbow Warriors as a wide receiver from 2001-2004 where he still holds the record as Hawaii’s all-time yardage leader. In 2010 Owens was signed as a receiver for The Toronto Argonauts and played six seasons with them, breaking records for all-purpose yards and winning the CFL Most Outstanding Player Award in 2012 as well as rated the best player in the league on the TSN Top 50 players. Chad is married to Rena Owens with two daughters and a son, Sierra-Lynn, Areana and Chad Jr. Chad Jr. is following in his father’s footsteps playing quarterback for his high school team class of 2022. Owens moved with his family back to Hawai’i in 2019 and was a 2020 judge in the Teen Miss Hawai’i Contest. He now spends his time hosting the new Star-Advertiser Facebook Live show “CO2 Run Dwn” giving Hawaii’s top sports headlines every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and is a host on the upcoming sports podcast “Runnin’ It Back,” set to premiere in the start of 2021.
